Major League Baseball or MLB for short is the greatest standard of professional baseball played in the world. It consists of the teams that participate in the National League and the American League. Among the 30 teams that participate, 29 teams are from the United States and there is one team from Canada.
MLB manages both the International Baseball Federation as well as World Baseball Classic. The popularity of MLB is evident from the fact that the average attendance is over thirty thousand per game. In terms of attendance it is next only to NFL, Bundesliga, Premier League and AFL.
The celebrated MLB venue Fenway Park which recently became the cause of heartbreak for the fans of Red Sox has embarked upon a yet another new role. It has projected itself as a significant venue for the political events. It hosted one of the top political chat shows of the nation along with gracing the political campaigns of the presidential election fore-runner and Republican Mitt Romney as well as that of Scott Brown who is the local Senator.
On Friday, the prestigious park celebrated its 100th anniversary and the occasion has been looked forward by the top brass of the team as well as the entire city of Boston all this spring.
To mark the occasion, Romney and his wife Ann gave interview to the famous journalist Diane Sawyer of the ABC television. They were seated inside a Fenway sky box with the view of the ground in the background. Later h watched the match between Tampa Bay Rays and Red Sox. Red Sox lost the game.
John Henry the owner of Red Sox who at one point in time had campaigned for Democratic John Kerry as well as donated considerable amount in the Democratic funds displayed bipartisanship by opening the ballpark
However, very few were happy and convinced by Romney’s credibility as a faithful member of the Red Sox team.
When asked by a journalist whether Romney supports his home state team Detroit Tigers or the team Red Sox, he sounded diplomatic by taking the side of the Boston Club.”Goodness, for Red Sox, I am scared”, he said. “I have been living in Massachusetts for the past 40 years”, he chirped.
He could not leave the Detroit team either. He was quick to add that, “There is no doubt of the fact that I am a Tigers’ fan from my childhood days”. He is not alone as many a high profile politicians like Barack Obama are now pitching for MLB teams.

There is no need for the Nashville Predators to measure themselves with comparison to Detroit Red Wings. A score was obtained in 13 seconds. It led to the advancement of the Predators to the semifinal with a victory of 2-1 against Red Wings.
The series was won 4-1 by the Predators, thus capping the season in which their Central division rival was laid back by them for the first time, and the red Wings were beaten for the very first time in the series of three playoffs. Nash21ville even succeeded to defeat the Red Wings, making their departure easier, after they lost a six-game in the first round of NHL against Edmonton in the year 2006.
Barry Trotz who happens to be the coach of Nashville commented that a gold standard was given to the Detroits by the Central Division and even by the Predators. Trotz proudly said,” We have reached the point of great respect towards Detroit Red Wings, but we’re not going to be in awe of them.” He also rightly said,” The event of the Detroit getting beaten by us in the first round may be considered as the right step in the right direction and a stepping stone for us at the same time.
The first team that advanced this postseason was the Nashville, which made them face the third-seeded Phoenix in the second round. Chicago was put back by the Coyotes with 3-1. A Nashville forward, named Alexander Radulov said, “The time for celebration has not yet come since Nashville has cleared only the first round.”
An assist was added by Legwand and Nashville was assisted by the goal of Radulov. Nashville was the team which won each game of NHL by scoring first. A score for Detroit was given by Jiri Hurdler which resulted into the loss of three games. Lidstrom said that he hasn’t yet decided whether he is going to come back in the summer.
The coach of Detroit, Mike Babcock thought that the Red Wings had played quite well until the fifth game of the series, which now is called as the worst. The Nashville Predators achieved victory in the final three of the series by allowing four goals and finally outshot and outhit of the Red Wings was clearly seen. Legwand, who gave the winning shot, is a native of the Detroit Area, also faced the achievement of scoring a wrister off the assists from forwards like Radulov and Gabriel Bourque.

Injuries seem never-ending in this season of NBA, with many star players affected by injuries and doubts over their status prevail until now. The story of injuries continues with Dwayne Wade and LeBron James both slowed down because of injuries. Both of them sat out in Thursday’s game between Heat and Atlanta Hawks, and both of them were not in their uniform, when they sat on Miami bench. Erik Spoelstra, heat coach, commented on injuries on the player, and said that Wade is suffering from a sore foot and the chances of his playing is more doubtful than James, because of his injury on the left leg.
This is the second game that Wade has missed after the first game against Indiana on Wednesday. Heat won the Wednesday’s game with 118-83 against Indiana. It was back on December 28, when wade injured his foot and the injury still persists and is affecting his game in this season of NBA as well. When it comes to LeBron James, he suffered injury in his left ankle, when his ankle turned during the game on Wednesday night. He actually stepped on Paul George’s foot from Indiana when he was trying the fast-break layup.
Even though James suffered the injury during Wednesday’s game, yet he finished the game with 13 assists and 33 points at the end. Coach Spoelstra commented that, “We are keeping all the points in mind starting from the games ahead, to rest and treatment, which we can do.” According to the coach, the injuries are not too serious and there are hopes of both the players returning to game as soon as possible. In the game against Indiana James Jones played in place of Wade, and in the game against the Hawks, Shane Battier started the game.
There is news of injuries from Hawk’s side as well, as the status of Tracy McGrady is also uncertain, and Coach Larry Drew confirmed this later. Tracy McGrady suffered from a bruised knee and nothing much has been said about his injury after the game. It is a down time for Miami Heat with two most important players sitting out because of injuries and there is no confirmation about any one of them playing in the next game. The fans will have to wait to see their star players play in the NBA season and it seems that the injuries are making the wait even longer.

In the Spanish La Liga FC Barcelona dropped five points just behind Real Madrid. This happened following a 1-1 draw with Espanyol. Barcelona was only able to do away with a draw with neighbors Espanyol in an exciting and controversial game. FC Barcelona was able to gain a first half lead against a motivated and forced home side attack. Barcelona was able to gain the lead following a head lead by Cesc Fabregas. This head goal by Cesc Fabregas was the 100th goal in all competitions of the season. Espanyol played with utmost intensity in the second half of the game. Barcelona never really looked comfortable in the second half of the game against Espanyol.

The score line read 1-1 as Alvaro Vazquez was able to score a header, five minutes before finishing time. The last match kicked off with Rayo Vallecano against Sevilla. Rayo Vallecano came up as the winning side as they won by a comfortable margin of 2-1 against Sevilla. Aritz Aduriz was able to score a late equalizer to enable Valencia to gain a 2-2 draw away to Villarreal. Betis was successful in registering a third consecutive win. Betis registered their third successful win of the season with a thumping 2-0 win over Sporting Gijon. Milan was successful in maintaining their lead too. AC Milan was successful yet again to maintain their lead in the Italian Serie A football.

AC Milan registered a 2-0 win against Atlanta in the last match as well. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Kevin-Prince were both successful in scoring goal. Their goal helped to keep AC Milan at the Serie A summit. At the Serie A summit, Juventus pressurized AC Milan. Juventus was by far the most consistent team for the entire season. Juventus was successful in maintaining an unbeaten record so far in this particular season. Alessandro Matri, whose performance below par in the previous games, was able to score the sole goal against Lecce.

The sole goal scored by Alessandro Matri helped Juventus beat Lecce by a margin of 1-0. Lecce always considered as a bottom ranked side could hardly put up any sort of resistance. This win of Juventus against Lecce helped Juventus to stay neck and neck with Milan. In some of the other matches played, Udinese was able to register victory against struggling Cesena by a convincing victory margin of 4-1. Roma defeated Chievo by a margin of 2-0, as Francesco Totti scored two convincing goals.

AC Milan set the ball of Serie A rolling securing a 2-0 win over Atlanta in the previous match.
Kevin- Prince Boateng and Zlatan played a good football and made a good score to highlight the club AC Milan, in the summit of Serie A. The match was quite exciting as the team experienced enough pressure from Juventas, which is consistent player of the team who has played quite well and had an unbeaten record until now in this season.

However, in the first half of the match, preferably during the beginning of the game Atlanta was in good position but the stars favored on AC Milan and the team succeed to hit the first goal during the first 22nd minute. At this point, pato fouled the area and at that time, Ibrahomic stroked the penalty quite calmly towards the bottom corner. Xinhua reported this news.

Antonio Nocerino and the good player of AC Milan Ibrahimovic came closer giving better effort from the outside area before they were being able to expand their lead during the 842nd minute. Later on Ibrahimovic, succeeded to pick out Boateng at the center of penalty and the midfielder used the opportunity and tracked his way over the net.

Massimiliano Allegri, the main coach of the club AC Milan simply hailed the first win of his sides.

The coach commented that the game required the physical involvement of the players and that is why it seemed quite entertaining. He also mentioned in his speech that it was quite possible for Atlanta to pose a pressure on his team but he is happy that his lads had succeeded to adapt well in the mid-field. Almost all of the players played hard and made a critical match simple to secure winning. It was quite important for the team to win over Atlanta after returning from winter break and AC has achieved what it required, said Allegri.
However, the counterpart of Atlanta complained against the performance of AC Milan and said a non-existent penalty can be established as decisive in regard his teams defeat.

Matri was placed on the bench to score the sole goal and to assist Junevtas so that he can beat the bottom side by 1- and can keep neck and neck with AC. However, this tough game still could not do any wonder for the Atlanta team and was in favor of AC Milan only.

With just a few weeks to go before the release of the NCAA bowl game schedule, we’re taking the time to look ahead to the bowl game projections for the 2011 – 2012 season. This season of college football has been a wild ride, with all kinds of big upsets. This past weekend was an especially wild one, with the #2, #4, #5 and 7th ranked teams all suffering shocking upsets. With the grudge match weekend looming after Thanksgiving, another round of upsets is not out of the questions. But nonetheless, were are going to project the possible matchups for all 35 bowl games.

BCS Games

BCS National Championship Game

When: January 9, 2012 at 8:30 p.m.

Where: Louisiana Superdome – New Orleans, Louisiana

Official BCS Championship site

Last year’s score: Auburn 22 – Oregon 19

MVP on offense: Michael Dyer

MVP on defense: Nick Fairley

Prior to losses from both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State it looked like the BCS Championship Game would be between LSU and one of the Oklahoma schools. But after neither could manage to remain undefeated, it looks like, if the first-ranked LSU can get past #3 Arkansas, they would be the first team selected for the BCS National Championship Game. And if Alabama can avoid an upset in the Iron Bowl against Auburn, they would likely get the second BCS Game invite in what would be a rematch of the LSU Alabama game on November 5, which saw LSU kick a field goal in overtime to secure the 9-6 win. As the biggest college game of the year, the BCS National Championship Game is one of the most popular sporting events on the calendar. With college football having some of the most intense fans in the country, the number of people trying to get into the Championship Game far exeeds the availablilty. But for the fans who make it to the game and watch their team win the title, they have a memeory for a lifetime. And with the 2012 game being hosted in New Orleans, this game should be even wilder than usual.

Rose Bowl

For the first time in recent memory, the Rose Bowl Game is not taking place on New Year’s Day and instead will be played on Monday, January 2nd. The Rose Bowl matches up the Big Ten against the Pac-12 in one of the marquee bowl games of the year. The Oregon Ducks, who lost to Auburn in last year’s BCS Championship Game, will likely be selected to play in the Rose Bowl due to their win over Stanford on November 12. The Ducks will need to win the inaugural Pac 12 Championship Game, which will likely be against UCLA. (USC has the best record in the Pac 12 South, but is not eligible to compete due to NCAA sanctions). If UCLA looses on Saturday, the South could be represented by Arizona State University or Utah. Either way the Ducks would be favored in any scenario and would end up in the Rose Bowl. The last time the Ducks won the Rose Bowl was in 1917 (they lost it four times since).

The Big Ten Rose Bowl representative will come down to Wisconsin, Penn State and Michigan State. Penn State and Wisconsin play at Camp Randall Stadium this Saturday, November 26 in a game that will decide the representative from the Big Ten’s Leaders Division. The winner of that game should play Michigan State, who will represent the Legends Division due to its win over Michigan on October 15.

When: January 2, 2012 at 5 p.m.

Where: Rose Bowl – Pasadena, California

Official Rose Bowl site

Last year’s score: TCU 21 – Wisconsin 19

MVP on offense: Andy Dalton

MVP on defense: Tank Carder

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl

The Fiesta Bowl matchup is pretty firmly set to be the Stanford Cardinals (Pac 12) vs the winner of the “Bedlam” football game between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Due to their loss to Oregon, Stanford can’t play in the Rose Bowl, and unless the five teams in front of them all loose, they would have a very tough time getting into the BCS Championship Game. That leaves Stanford and likely #1 NFL Draft pick Andrew Luck in the desert at University of Phoenix Stadium, facing off against the winner of the Bedlam Series between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State on Saturday, December 3.

When: January 5, 2012 at 8:30 p.m.

Where: U of Phoenix Stadium – Glendale, Arizona

Official Fiesta Bowl Site

First Played: 1971

Last year’s score: Oklahoma 48 – Connecticut 20

MVP on offense: Landry Jones

MVP on defense: Jamell Fleming

Orange Bowl

The Orange Bowl features the winner of the ACC vs a BCS eligible team. Right now Clemson will play in the ACC Championship Game with its 9-2 record. They will take on the winner of the The Commonwealth Cup game between the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday, November 26. The Orange Bowl should see the winner of the ACC taking on one of the remaining BCS berths, which will likely be the Big East representative. It could either be the Louisville Cardinals, which are currently leading the Big East, or the West Virginia Mountaineers. Rutgers and Cincinnati could also end up playing in the Orange Bowl (that’s the Big East for you).

When: January 4, 2012 at 8 p.m.

Where: Sun Life Stadium – Miami, Florida

The Orange Bowl normally sees the ACC vs a BCS eligible team

Official Orange Bowl Site

First Played: 1935

Last year’s score: Stanford 40 – Virginia Tech 12

MVP on offense: Andrew Luck

Sugar Bowl

Even though there will be teams ranked higher than Michigan, its tradition and the revenue implications of the fanbase make it likely Michigan would get the BCS invite over teams ranked higher. The BCS system is designed to generate the most revenue, not to award the teams that performed the best. While Michigan could get what some would call an undeserved BCS Bowl invite, they will likely face a team from a conference without an automatic BCS Bowl qualifier. Conference USA’s Houston Cougars are undefeated heading into Saturday’s game against Tulsa. If they pull that out the BCS would all but have to invite Houston to a BCS game.

When: January 3, 2012 at 8:30 p.m.

Where: Louisiana Superdome – New Orleans, Louisiana

Official Sugar Bowl Site

First Played: 1935

Last year’s score: Ohio State 31 – Arkansas 26

MVP on offense: Terrell Pryor

So those are the BCS Bowls. But as we all know there is no shortage of college football bowl games. The following is a breakdown of all the 2011 – 2012 NCAA Football Bowl Games. Of course there is a lot of wiggle room, and for most bowls you’ll see what the teams with the best chances to get in listed.

Non BCS Bowl projections

GoDaddy.com Bowl
